Long-Term Help and Education
Although The Salvation Army is known as a place to turn for basic needs in dire situations, we strive to help families escape the grip of poverty for good. Several of our programs are designed to give children and adults the help they need to be successful and create a secure life for themselves. Many times we hear from people we have helped, who contact us to donate and give back once they are standing on their own two feet.

"If the rest of the Salvation Army staff is anything like the one I have worked with, there are some beautiful things happening out there," says Debra Williams. Williams is a smart, capable professional. But without a car or other conveniences many take for granted, her life was dangerously close to derailing. Extenuating circumstances forced her out of her apartment and into the YWCA Family Shelter. There she was matched with a Salvation Army case worker who helped her get back on her feet.
