A Day of Giving

This past holiday season, WBNS-10TV and Walmart partnered with The Salvation Army for A Helping Hand for the Holidays.  On December 7th, Walmart and Salvation Army employees manned a phone bank and took in donations during the Day of Giving that aired on Channel 10.

Hundreds of viewers called into the station to pledge financial support and together, our community donated over $10,000 to support The Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program.  Each year TSA uses its own resources to purchase food and toys for Cheer.  Toy drives and food drives offset some of the expense, but they are never able to fulfill all the need.

The partnership with WBNS and Walmart allowed The Salvation Army to assist nearly 8,000 families, without sacrificing resources needed for other programs the remainder of the year.

A heartfelt thank you to WBNS-10TV, Walmart and our generous community for making the phone bank and the entire campaign a huge success!

Check back this summer for more information about the 2012 Day of Giving!
